Skin and Me review

I’ve always been quite lucky when it comes to my skin. Although I’ve had my fair share of horror blemishes and hormonal acne over the years, overall I can’t complain about my skin. However, a few months ago, I felt like my skin just wasn’t at it’s best anymore. I kept having the same hormonal spots, as well as on my forehead. I decided I needed to make a better effort with my skincare, to improve it and also to help with my confidence. I don’t know about you, but when my skin isn’t great I find that putting on makeup, often makes me feel worse. It’s as if the makeup puts a sign on my face saying ‘hey! look at this spot right here!’.

Therefore, for the past few months I have been subscribed to Skin + Me. It’s an online subscription service that connects you with an online dermatologist. When you sign up, you send pictures of your face at different angles, and wait for an assessment from the dermatologist. Once they have reviewed your skin, the dermatologist will select ingredients for your cream and send it out in the post. They also explain what each of the ingredients will do and how the treatment plan will roll out over the next few weeks.

Obviously when starting a new routine, it does take time to see results. Along with just letting your skin get used to the new cream, Skin + Me also will increase your ingredients as each month progresses. This is a monthly subscription at £19.99 , though they do always have deals in place, such as the first month free.

As time goes on, the dermatologist will check in with you to see progress pictures, as well as to discuss any concerns you may have. I love this, as it gives you a chance to say what is or is not working for you. They are there to give you the results you want! At my latest check in for example, although I had seen good results on most of my face, I was still unhappy with the spots I was seeing on the side of my face and jaw. The dermatologist was really quick to reply to my concerns and immediately amended my ingredients. Though it’s not been too long, I am seeing improvements. It’s also great to be able to look through pictures previously uploaded and track your skin progress.

This is around 6 months difference

Skin+Me suggest a simple routine to go along with their treatment. This is great, because it means I have an easy routine of face wash, moisturiser and SPF. This is in stark contrast to previous routines I have tried with multiple serums, creams, oils etc. Not that I didn’t see results with these, but it was sometimes hard to keep track of, and of course more expensive. I’m sure I will add more steps into my routine again, but for now, I am loving the simplicity of Skin +Me. They do also offer further products you can add on, including moisturisers and an SPF. I have not yet tried these myself, but perhaps in time I will add them to my routine to help compliment my skincare routine.
