7 Things you need when you have the flu…

Hi Everyone,

This week hasn’t been the best week for me. I had a busy few days at work and then by the end of the week I was truly suffering from the flu, which I still have. I hardly ever get sick, but I seem to be catching things a lot more frequently than I would like! However, being off work with this sickness has inspired today’s post. Sometimes having time off can be nice, even if you are confined to the house and not feeling great. So what are my top 7 essentials for keeping yourself entertained and hopefully feeling better? Read on below:

  1. Television!

This one is a no brainer. What is a sick day without being able to watch DVD’s, Netflix, and daytime TV. I like being able to catch up on my favourite shows and relaxing on the couch at the same time.

2. Hot drinks

Whether you have the flu, a stomach bug, or something else having hot drinks always helps. Particularly for me as my throat is feeling awful right now. I have been living on lemsip and hot toddy’s. But I also think tea, herbal teas and even hot chocolate just warm you up.

3. Comfy clothes

Who doesn’t love wearing pajamas, lose t-shirts, and comfortable bottoms. When I’m sick, I just stick to lose fitting pajamas, because how often do you get to lounge around in them on a Tuesday afternoon!

4. Sleep

The best thing you can do when you are sick is sleep. Most of the time we get sick because we are over worked or stressed and our body just needs a rest. I can fall in and out of sleep about 6 times (ok 10 times) in the same day. It really is the best answer to illness.

5. Family member/ friend/ part time slave

One thing I always appreciate when I’m sick is my family helping me and taking care of me. My mum is always on hand to help with a hot drink and my sister has made me soup this past week. Whoever you may have in your life, making them you little helper when you are sick is just an added bonus.

6. Snacks

So with all this time spent watching TV and between naps, of course there is snacking! What better way to cheer your self up than to eat food. Even a sore throat can’t stop this girl.

7. Internet

Always a good way to pass the time, looking through Instagram, stalking people on Facebook and catching up on YouTube videos. What else is there to do really!

Let me know how you cheer yourself up when you are ill in the comments!

Thank you for reading.
