Two weeks ago I decided to quit the gym, something I have done before, but whilst previously I quit the gym due to money issues or time issues, this time I have made the decision because I know it will benefit me and my fitness goals. How can quitting the gym improve your fitness goals Adele? I know, that’s what you may be thinking at this moment in time, but I don’t just think it will, I know it!
Cycle back to January of this year, I had just started the Tone it up 8 week plan, and I was a little sceptical that I would even last 8 weeks. However, with each and every week that passed, I looked forward to my workouts more and more, and really felt proud as my body changed. The 8 week plan required us sticking to the meals planned out by Karena and Katrina, as well as following daily workouts. By the end of the 8 weeks I had lost around 5 pounds and 6 inches in total from my body, insane! I was feeling confident and like I was finally on the right track. By the end of the 8 weeks, I had been in my job for long enough to know my earnings were ok, I thought it would be a great time to join a gym again and keep going with my workouts. But fast forward a few months later, I wasn’t going to the gym twice a week, or even once a week most of the time, and the times I did go, I just never really felt pumped to workout. Eventually this led to me basically going a few weeks at a time not working out at all. Once the workouts go, you often find the diet also slips too, which is exactly what happened in my case.
So finally after speaking with my friend, weighing up the pros and cons, I decided to give up my membership and stick with what works. Though a few days ensued with me having a Chandler Bing “I want to quit the gym” moment, eventually I received the email stating it was officially over. I couldn’t be happier, because I finally know what works for me and my body. Though I have been a Tone it up member for around 2 years now, it wasn’t until January that I really made the commitment to stick with the plan and the workouts. I used to think only doing a 20 minute toning workout wouldn’t make much of a difference, but let me tell you, my results after the 8 week plan were the best I have had in years, my goal is not to lose a certain amount of pounds, or even inches, I just wanted to feel confident in myself, and enjoy it. As a tone it up member I feel that, and on top of that I actually enjoy the workouts.
So why many trainers and gym bunnies will tell me that a gym is the way to go, for me I now know what I enjoy, and what works for me. Working out at home, motivating myself, sharing in a community of beautiful and encouraging women and working out with my favourite ladies Karena and Katrina! So in the future, expect to see a blog or two just documenting how I’m finding it, my meals I’ve enjoyed, or the workouts I have done. Because one thing that also kept me motivated was the fact I shared each week of the plan here on my blog, so I really want to keep that up, and who knows, you may even decide to join in one of the workouts too!
Thank you for reading, and it may not be Wine not Wednesday but I’m raising a glass my Tone it up ladies for making it one of the best decisions I’ve made to get the plan !
Love
