Lately I have found myself reaching for a good book to read, rather than watching TV or Netflix as much. Though a film can really suck you in to the characters and story line, I feel as though with a book, the plot really pulls you in and so much so that you can truly lose yourself. I can’t tell you the amount of times I have been late, or even missed my stop on the bus once or twice due to being so deep into a story.
A book I have recently read was a wonderful book named ‘Everything, Everything’ by Nicola Yoon. I read this book in a day and a half, it was addictive. The story is brilliantly unique in the way it spins a teenage love story. Not only gripping, beautiful, highly interesting but also completely unpredictable.
The book opens with an introduction to our main protagonist Madeline Whittier. Maddy is allergic to the outside world, she has lived inside her house for the past 17 years, with her Doctor mother and a carer looking after her. Maddy experiences everything from inside her room. School, reading, fun and every other part of life. If Maddy were to step outside, she knows she would not survive. Maddy ignores everything to do with the outside, the temptation, the people…that is until Olly arrives.
Olly wants to find a way to get to Maddy, and in turn she will do everything to get out to him. This is such a beautiful story, full of heart, sweetness, sadness and a truly unique story. I highly recommend this book, and without revealing too much it definitely has a few surprises throughout.
