As you all know I am a huge fan of the brand Illamasqua ever since discovering their products a few months ago. I have been meaning to expand on my collection of products and after hearing such great things about all of the Illamasqua ‘Veil’ products I thought I would give them a go.
Illamasqua offer three different options in their veil line, all of which are applied prior to foundation. You have the Hydra veil, Radiance veil and Matte Veil.
The Matte veil is best used for oily skin, and really preps the skin for a great matte base for makeup. With all of the Veil’s a little goes a long way, so it will last and still be effective.
Based on the name I’m sure you can guess that this is an excellent source of hydration for your skin! Illamasqua describe this as a part primer, part hydrator. This is excellent for those who suffer from dry skin.
The radiance veil I feel seems far more indulgent, it is also part primer, but also has the benefits of an illumator as well. This was developed to enhance your makeup.
I was debating between the Hyrda Veil and Radiance, as I can benefit from both of these products. My skin can be quite dry at times but the radiance veil is one of the best Illamasqua products as well. After visiting the store, and seeking out some advice from the ladies in there, I thought why not go for a little extra highlight and glow with the Radiance veil! The pot is a generous size in my opinion considering how little product you need each time, which means that it is great for the price and it will be long-lasting. Upon opening you are met with a gorgeous pink toned cream, that also has a glow about it. You are also supplied with a small spoon, that you use to measure how much you actually need.
With this product the phrase ‘less is more’ has never been more accurate! You only need the smallest amount on your face to see the radiance veil at work. Though you can use a brush to apply this, I actually think that with your finger tips also works great, as you do need to take some time to fully work this product in. It has a similar finish as a shimmer lotion, so at first you may feel as though you will have nothing but sparkle even after your foundation, but trust me this shimmer effect does not show once your foundation is applied.
What I love about the radiance veil is how little product you need but still it completely changes your look. You do notice a difference even before you continue with your usual makeup routine. Yes there is certainly a glow to the veil, but it also adds instant warmth to your complexion.
I would highly recommend this product. Though I don’t see myself using this on an everyday basis, I certainly will be using it frequently and often. I would like to try the Hydra veil as well as I think that would be a fantastic and much-needed moisture boost for my skin.
