Catch the moments…

Recently I was watching an episode of This is Us, a fantastic new show from across the pond. In this particular episode, one character questions William (who is terminally ill) on how it feels to be dying. His response was the following:

‘It feels, like all these beautiful pieces of life are flying around me and I’m trying to catch them. Like when my granddaughter falls asleep in my lap, I try to catch the feeling of her breathing against me. And when I make my son laugh, I try to catch the sound of him laughing, how it rolls up from his chest. But the pieces are moving faster now and I can’t catch them all. I can feel them slipping through my finger tips and soon where there used to be my granddaughter breathing and my son laughing, there will be… nothing.

I know it feels like you have all the time in the world, but you don’t. So stopping playing it cool, catch the moments of your life, and catch them while your young and quick. Before you know it you will be old, and slow and there will be no more to catch.

This scene touched me so much. Not only because of my love of the character but the words could not be truer. We waste so much time in life worrying, over thinking and wasting our lives! Whether that is worrying about your future, money struggles or what you look like, this message is a reminder to not spend so much time on those thoughts or worries. We need to appreciate life, in when it isn’t going so well. These are the memories and moments you want to look back on.

We need to remember to Catch the moments, take life for the beautiful journey that it is and let go of the negative worries and thoughts. Catch the moments and you will not be sorry.
