Shea Moisture: Hair game changer

Recently my GHD straighteners finally gave in and stopped working. They had a good run and lasted a good many years, but we all know the struggle of having your GHD’s giving up on you. However, rather than rushing to get a new pair, I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to give my hair a break from excessive amounts of heat,  and keep it natural and curly for a few weeks. I’m not sure when I will be purchasing new hair straighteners but I’m certainly in no rush.

After making this decision I decided that I would also invest in some great products to help restore my curly hair to a better condition. The only product that came to mind was the Shea moisture line. I had looked into buying Shea moisture a few months ago, but as it is an American brand the shipping cost was just too high. Luckily on a recent trip to Boots, I realised that they have now started stocking this product as well. It makes me incredibly happy to see Shea moisture stocked in the beauty section now with all the regular brands you are sure to recognise. Shea moisture have recently started a campaign called “Breaking the walls” as a message that those of us that have Afro, Curly hair need to be represented in the beauty section of stores. I know for myself and my sister we never saw many products that were specifically for our hair type. There was a brand called dark and lovely, but you couldn’t find it as easily as shampoos and conditioners that catered to straight hair.

It just makes me incredibly happy to see Shea moisture in Boots. I therefore purchased some products, not only to show Boots there is a market for it but also because I had been so excited to try these. One product in particular I have been obsessed with. Read on below to hear my thoughts:

Coconut & Hibiscus Hair Smoothie

The coconut and hibiscus smoothie is a fantastic hair tool. Not only can this be used on dry or damn hair, it allows you to style your hair with very little product whilst helping keep your hair healthy. This hair smoothie is long lasting, sulphate free and also has a gorgeous scent! This product has been an absolute lifesaver for me. I saw a complete change to my hair after only one use, and since continually using this product, I have only grown to love it more.

Deep Treatment Masque

The deep treatment masque is something I have not yet tried as it a hair treatment, rather than something to be used everyday. I wanted to include this in my post however, as I have read so many great reviews about this product. A hair mask is a great way to keep your hair smooth and conditioned, spending a little extra time with a mask will not only keep your hair strong and healthy, but its also a great way to relax. Applying a mask, relaxing for 20-30 minutes whilst it does its work is a great way to spend a sunday afternoon in my eyes.

Coconut & Hibiscus Shampoo

Another product in the coconut and hibiscus line, which means it smells amazing! Shampoo is not something you have to use daily, or even weekly for curly hair to be honest. I have used this shampoo a few times and I am really enjoying the results so far. A big problem I have struggled with when it comes to my own hair is how dry it can get very easily. However, just from using this shampoo, my hair has been feeling and looking much more hydrated.

The Shea moisture products have been excellent so far in helping get my natural hair to look and feel better than it has in years. I’m excited to try more in the line and see how the condition of my hair improves with the help of the products!

Thanks for reading everyone, let me know if you have tried any of the Shea moisture products!

Love
