Healthy Breakfast: Protein packed pancakes



Today I wanted to share one of my favourite breakfasts that I have been enjoying recently, protein pancakes! Part of the Tone it up weekly meals includes these pancakes and they are delicious. What I love about protein pancakes is that you get to feel like you are getting that sweet indulgence that we all need, but at no cost to your progress of working out.

Protein pancakes basically replace flour with protein powder, and for a really healthy option you should use almond milk or soy milk. The best recipes use banana, oats or Greek yoghurt. You can then combine any number of healthy toppings to make a great breakfast.


For a great protein pancake add the following ingredients:

1 banana mashed

1/2 cup of egg whites

1/4 cup- 1/2 cup of Almond milk (I like to add a lot personally but depends on how thick you want them)

2 scoops of your favourite protein powder


If you have just finished a workout, these pancakes are particularly a great way to start your morning. I’ve listed some of my favourite topping combinations below;

  • Blueberry and Banana
  • Strawberry and Walnuts
  • Banana and Agave syrup
  • Blueberry and Lemon




Do I prefer these over using regular flour? Probably not, but considering the health benefits I could easily eat these all the times.
