Hi Everyone,

So it’s that time again! You all know how much I love to read, and that I like to talk about my favourite books or just what I’m currently reading. Today I wanted to talk about a book that I read a few years ago, but still love just as much today. You are all probably familiar with this book, even if it is just through the film version. Very rare for me I actually saw the film before reading the book, but I actually didn’t mind this too much. The film Marley and Me if you haven’t seen it, is a wonderful film, although I was under the impression it was just a nice comedy with Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson. My sister, brother and I sat down thinking it was a harmless film to watch on a Sunday night, fast forward to the end of the film and we are crying our eyes out, in complete shock that this ‘comedy’ took this sudden turn. I feel sorry for anyone who went to the cinema to see this as it must have been a shock if you hadn’t read the book!

The only good thing about watching the film first is that I was fully prepared when reading the book. It was an interesting read, and easy to get through the book in a few days. I really enjoyed getting to know more about Marley, the family and the journey they went through. As a pet owner and animal lover, it’s easy to relate to the love you feel for your pets, as well as them driving you crazy. With this book, you get to experience a love story and a friendship. John eloquently tells us his story, and you feel a little of every emotion with this book. As a couple, Jenny and John go through ups and downs, and it’s lovely to see their progression as a couple, changing jobs, moving house, having children! All whilst trying to get a handle on their crazy, larger than life dog Marley.

I really think you can enjoy this book whether you like animals or not. It is far more than just a story about a man and a dog, I laughed, felt their pain, cried along with them and felt every emotion you can! I never try to give away the plot, but I do have to say that I absolutely how John ends the book, it is what I can only describe as a love letter to your pet and any pet owner can relate. I love this story, I love Marley and I really hope you give it a chance because I’m sure you will love it too.

Thanks for reading everyone! Let me know your favourite books below…

Love
