Review: Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge

Hi Everyone,

So today I have a quick review of a recent new purchase! I finally decided to invest in a makeup sponge. Though I have some sponges, they are a lot cheaper and I have only realy used them in the past to blend my makeup in a little better. As I did some impulse buying the other day at Boots, I thought I would take the opportunity to buy a new sponge of good quality. I picked up the Real techniques Miracle sponge.

The sponge is a product from Sam and Nic Chapman, two sisters who are not only makeup artists but also have amazing makeup tutorials and other helpful tips on their YouTube channel Pixiwoo. I liked the look of the sponge, and as they are two women who have a vast amount of experience as make up artists, I felt comfortable that my money was being well spent with their product.

After several tries with this sponge, I have to say that this was a worthy purchase. I love my makeup brushes, but I think when it comes to concealer and liquid foundation, a sponge which can properly blend is necessary! Not only is it great for those liquid makeup essentials, but it can be a great for blending in powder as well. If you have seen my summer makeup look post, then you know I am a fan of the Laura Mercier secret brightening powder. I tested the sponge on this as well, letting the powder rest on my face for a while before blending it in. I found using the sponge was just as effective as my usual brush. However, a little finishing off with my fan brush didn’t hurt either. Any excuse to feel this amazing brush on my skin I will take 🙂

The best way to use the sponge is to wet it under a tap first and squeeze out the excess, as they advise to use the sponge damp for liquid products. It can retain a little water so make sure to really squeeze before dabbing on your foundation. What is also great about the sponge is the unique design it has. Not only perfected for applying foundation, the sponge also has rounded sides to blend the larger areas of the face and a precision tip for those tricky corners around the eyes. This is a reasonably priced sponge (£5.99- Boots), compared to the ever so popular Beauty blender. I haven’t tried that particular sponge myself, but hey, maybe in the near future. I really love how the sponge gives you a really great look, my foundation feels light and perfectly applied using this sponge.

Overall I would highly recommend this product to anyone, great application, really great technique due to the design and a wonderful addition to my makeup bag!

Thanks for reading guys!
