As you may have seen in a previous post I recently purchased the Mac pro longwear concealer, and as promised I now have the review to go with it! Now I am by no means a makeup expert, since I recently only purchased primer for the first time, this should be pretty obvious.
The concealer is a small size (9ml), but from the use so far I do think it will last a good while. Now I know a lot of people apply foundation and then concealer, but I actually have always done it the other way around. I did try both ways to test out the concealer properly, and I have to say that both methods work great. I have shown on the below picture how the concealer looks, one side has nothing (eek) and the other has a light layer. This is before any foundation so you can clearly see how it works (excuse my lack of eyebrows! I shaved them when I was young and clearly they haven’t forgiven me). I really love the feel of this concealer, not only it is easy to apply, but it doesn’t dry out my skin at all. I find with even some liquid concealers they can still end up feeling sticky and very noticeable.
With this, you can see that it has blended in quite easily, and this is before I have fully blended the concealer properly. It has already brightened my face, and hidden my very dark circles! I don’t like to go too heavy with my makeup, unless I am going somewhere fancy, or lets face it trying to look your best for whatever reason it may be, and this compliments the natural look I like to have day-to-day.
At £17.00 this is more than my previous concealer which was from the Body shop, but with certain things, you have to invest. As dark circles are a constant insecurity of mine, it was important for me to find something reliable. If I’m honest, the only thing I don’t like about this product is it has a strange smell. Not bad, but just that odd little make up smell some liquids foundations and concealers can have.
But if the only criticism I have for Mac is an odd smell, then I think they are doing something right.
My rating ****
Thanks for reading everyone, and let me know what you like to apply first concealer or foundation!
